Hello World!

In a college computer programming class, I learned that “Hello World” is often the first program a coder will learn to write in a new language. I didn’t pursue computer science after I took that class but that lesson really stuck with me. It seems only fitting that my very first blog post should start with “Hello World” because this is all very new to me and I have a lot to learn.

My husband, Jeremy, and I love to travel and frequently find ourselves dreaming of where we will go next. We love watching travel shows on TV and we follow quite a few YouTubers as they travel the world. Sadly, we have full-time jobs, a mortgage, an adorable pup, and a massive amount of student loan debt (over $100k at this point), so we’re not going to up-and-leave anytime soon. We could certainly focus on spending less and paying off our student loan debt as fast as possible, but our jobs are hard enough and if there’s anything we’ve learned while living through the Covid-19 pandemic, we all need a mental break and a way to escape from time to time.

Thankfully, we have vacation time, as limited as it might be in the US. When you only have a limited time to get away, you want to make the most of it. We spend hours planning and researching where we’ll go, debating with each other over the cultural activities, history, transportation and most importantly, the food, to determine how we’ll spend our time away.

All that time and research usually pays off and we’re rewarded with beautiful scenery, vibrant cities, incredible history, wonderful people and phenomenal food! Sure, we have our hiccups and make plenty of mistakes along the way, but better us than you. We’ve finally decided to document our travels in the hopes that the places we go, and the lessons we learn along the way, can inspire you to make the most of your vacation time.

So come along for the ride!
